Welcome to Gnostalgia
A Home for Haunted Curiosity, Old Books, and Strange Companions
What This Blog Is
Gnostalgia is a crossroads—part review journal, part personal archive, part haunted broadcast. It’s where old books breathe again, forgotten films get a second life, and odd relics from thrift stores, attics, and memory boxes find their way into the light.
If you enjoy ghost stories, vintage paperbacks, folklore, cosmic oddities, or the quiet magic of everyday life, you’re in the right place.
What You’ll Find Here
This blog has grown over the years into a living collection of:
Book reviews—horror, fantasy, folklore, and the delightfully strange
Movie and TV reflections—from cult classics to new releases
Haunted essays—personal stories, odd memories, and mythic musings
Character appearances—Dale T. Doll, Verity Bleu, Aunt Nettie, Not My Cat, and other recurring figures from the Gnostalgia universe
Restored vintage photos and the stories they carry
Notes from daily life—caregiving, nostalgia, and the small rituals that shape a day
Some posts are lighthearted. Some are eerie. Some are simply honest.
The Gnostalgia Universe
Over time, this blog has developed its own cast of characters—some fictional, some folkloric, some who simply wandered in and refused to leave. They appear in stories, broadcasts, and occasional mischief:
Dale T. Doll, the haunted commentator
Verity Bleu, the off‑world truth‑teller
Aunt Nettie, the keeper of old Southern wisdom
Not My Cat, who belongs to no one and everyone
These characters help explore themes of memory, identity, and the strange beauty of the everyday.
Why I Write
Gnostalgia began as a simple book blog, but it has become something more—a place to preserve stories, honor the past, and create new mythic threads. Writing here helps me make sense of the world, celebrate the things I love, and share a little wonder with anyone who stops by.
If a post makes you smile, think, remember, or feel less alone, then it has done its job.

Thank You for Visiting
Whether you’re a longtime reader or a newcomer who stumbled in by accident, I’m glad you’re here. Pull up a chair, pour a cup of something warm, and stay as long as you like. The Archive is always open.
Welcome to My Domain
Ah, greetings, unwitting visitors. I see you’ve stumbled upon Attention Earthlings, though the title is, admittedly, a tad misleading. This blog is no mere transmission for the masses. No, it is my carefully curated window into the peculiar, the shadowed, and the undeniably fascinating corners of existence.
Allow me to introduce myself: I am Dale T. Doll, a refined (if slightly condescending) vintage ventriloquist figure with a penchant for observation and an eye for the eerie. Once relegated to the ignoble role of parlor entertainment, I now preside over the Brick Bunker—a fortress of resilience nestled on the Gulf Coast in Panama City, Florida. From this bastion of storms and secrets, I observe the world, unfiltered and unimpressed, and share my musings with those bold enough to read them.
Here, you will find my diary entries—introspective musings on life, humanity, and the occasional inexplicable oddity. You’ll encounter cryptid chronicles, poetic ramblings, and perhaps a critique or two (I excel at those). Always at my side—or underfoot—is my companion, Not My Cat, whose name perfectly encapsulates the boundaries of our relationship. And let us not forget Barry, my… caretaker, who humbly provides me with a platform and just enough coffee to tolerate his antics.
Why do I write? Perhaps because humans need a gentle reminder (or a sarcastic nudge) to see beyond the surface, to peer into the shadows where the truly interesting stories reside. Or perhaps because someone must—must—document the absurdity of existence from a vantage point as unique as mine.
So stay, if you dare. Explore the chronicles, reflect on the musings, and immerse yourself in the darkly humorous world of Dale T. Doll. Just remember: I see everything.
Yours in biting wit and eerie contemplation,
Dale T. Doll
A Note on AI Collaboration
Some of the stories, images, and character explorations on this blog were created with the assistance of AI tools—most often Microsoft Copilot. I use AI the same way writers have always used their tools: as a sounding board, a brainstorming partner, and a way to refine grammar or generate artwork that fits the tone of the Archive.
This is not “AI slop.”
“Slop” happens when someone clicks a button and posts whatever comes out—no editing, no intention, no craft. That’s the opposite of what happens here. Every piece on this blog is shaped, rewritten, curated, and filtered through my voice, my taste, and my long‑running mythos. AI is a tool, not the author.
What you read here is the result of:
My ideas and worldbuildingMy characters and their historiesMy editing, rewriting, and curationMy aesthetic choicesMy ongoing creative universeAI simply helps me explore possibilities, tighten language, or visualize concepts that would otherwise stay in my head. It’s no different from using a spellchecker, a thesaurus, a camera, or a paint program—just a more flexible tool.
The heart of the work is human.
The Archive remains mine.
AI is just one of the lanterns I carry into the dark.
