Henkel gives us another great Jason Dark short story. Inspector Lestrade calls in two detectives, Sherlock Holmes and Jason Dark, to investigate the murder of John Balderston. But, the murder is not as elementary as Holmes might believe.
This time Dark battles with a foe (or is that two?) from his past.
I liked the introduction of Holmes into the story, but I would liked to have seen more of him. I really expected (hoped for) a twist at the end with Holmes included. Lestrade was given a good part of the story and I enjoyed every minute of it.
While the villains are from earlier stories, I had no trouble keeping up with this novella. This is the tenth novella of the series, but all of the stories, that I have read, stand alone.
Another great effort by Henkel, I give it 5 Jiang Shi vampires out of 5.
