Rating: 3.5/5 Stars
As a fan of the Venom series, I was eager to see how “Venom: The Last Dance” would wrap up the trilogy. Directed by Kelly Marcel, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Tom Hardy, this final installment promised a mix of action, humor, and the unique dynamic between Eddie Brock and his symbiotic partner, Venom.
Plot and Characters
The movie picks up with Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and Venom on the run, facing threats from both human and alien adversaries. The plot is packed with twists and turns, some of which hit the mark, while others feel a bit forced. The chemistry between Eddie and Venom remains the heart of the film, delivering both comedic and emotional moments that fans have come to love.
Strengths
One of the standout aspects of “The Last Dance” is Tom Hardy’s performance. He continues to bring a quirky charm to Eddie Brock, while also giving Venom a distinct personality that is both menacing and endearing. The action sequences are well-executed, with some truly spectacular visuals that keep you on the edge of your seat
The film also does a good job of balancing its darker themes with humor. There are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, often stemming from the banter between Eddie and Venom. This balance helps to keep the movie entertaining, even when the plot becomes a bit convoluted.
Weaknesses
However, “Venom: The Last Dance” is not without its flaws. The storyline can feel chaotic at times, with too many subplots vying for attention. This can cause the film to feel fragmented as it fails to sustain a consistent tone. Furthermore, several new characters introduced in this movie do not receive sufficient development, which leaves their motivations and backgrounds somewhat ambiguous.
Final Thoughts
Overall, “Venom: The Last Dance” is a fitting conclusion to the trilogy. It may not be the strongest entry in the series, but it delivers enough action, humor, and heart to satisfy fans. If you’ve enjoyed the previous Venom movies, you’ll likely find this one to be a fun and worthwhile watch. For me, it earns a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
