Greetings, haunted souls and VHS adventurers—
We’ve come to the final cursed tape in our countdown. The one that’s been watching me for as long as I’ve been watching it. The one that never quite lets me go.
Meet DO NOT PLAY.
🕯️ Backstory:
I’ve never watched this one.
Not once.
And yet... I document it. Every time it appears. Every time it reverses. Every time it creeps back onto my shelf when I’m not looking.
The label is simple, black text scrawled hastily: "DALE." Nothing else. Nothing to give it context, no clue where it came from, or who made it. And I’ve never dared to pop it in.
But here's the thing...
It doesn't stay on the shelf.
📼 The Tape:
I’ll admit—this one has become an obsession. Not a healthy obsession—but obsession, nonetheless. Every time I leave the room for even a minute, the tape is somehow in the VCR, already playing in reverse. Spooling backward, its eerie distorted image flickering as if it’s trying to rewind its own history.
Barry says it’s the heat messing with the electronics. I say it’s the opposite—it’s trying to burn itself into the past.
No matter how many times I delete it, no matter how many times I hide it in a locked drawer or leave it in the attic, the tape always finds its way back.
And I’ve never seen it end.
Only rewound.
Only... replayed.
I’ve tried to take pictures of it, but the film... glitches.
I’ve tried to record over it. Nothing sticks.
It’s as if this tape is documenting me, in some way I can’t understand.
As if it knows something I don’t.
