Stepping Back from Review Requests

I’ve made a decision that’s been a long time coming:

I’m no longer able to accept books for review.

This isn’t about a lack of appreciation — far from it. Every author who has ever trusted me with their work has given me something precious: time, imagination, and a piece of their creative world. I’m grateful for every one of those exchanges.

But reviewing isn’t a small task for me. It’s emotional labor, mythic labor, and a kind of ritual. It asks for focus, reflection, and a depth of engagement that I can’t offer on a schedule anymore. Life has shifted, my creative cycles have shifted, and I need to honor that honestly.

So here’s what changes:

  • I won’t be accepting review copies — digital or physical — going forward.

  • I’ll still talk about books I read on my own, when the spirit moves me.

  • My past reviews will remain available as part of the archive.

If you’re an author who has reached out recently: thank you. Truly. Your work deserves a reviewer who can give it the time and attention it needs, and right now, that isn’t me.

This space will continue — just in a way that fits the rhythm of my life now.

Thank you for understanding, and for reading.
