Product Description
The Witchcraft of Dame Darrell of York purports to be the full account of the Witchcraft practiced in medieval England in the medieval era. The account was transcribed by her nephew after her death in order to preserve all her lore and learning for future generations of witches. In truth, Dame Darrell was an imaginative recreation of how witchcraft was practiced in medieval England. However, it is not pure fiction. It is based on Leland’s years of prodigious research. And the structure of this work leaves room for readers to create their own practice rooted in tradition, yet responsive to twentieth century needs and sensibilities.
This beautifully reproduced facsimile of the illuminated manuscript includes a full transcript of the text. This is a book that sheds light on an ancient tradition and provides the basis for a modern practice. It will be embraced by those practicing Pagans, scholars, and anyone interested in the legend and lore of England.

My Thoughts:
Never judge a book by its cover.
I was very surprised to receive this book. The size and the heft of it reminded me of why my mailman hates me so much. I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed by the dust cover. I even removed the dust jacket to see what was underneath only to replace it. I turned my attention to the pages and I was stunned by the beauty of this book.
Facsimile pages of Charles Leland’s handwritten, illustrated manuscript have been lovingly framed in gold. Some of the pages really, and unexpectantly, hit me on an emotional level. I have read Leland’s Aradia: Gospel of the Witches but I had no idea of how truly talented he was.
I highly recommend this book for the esoteric/occult home library. However; this book is far to beautiful to remain on a shelf. Put it on your coffee table and share it with friends or in my case further alienate Christians who visit with offers of joining their church . 5 star — must have …
